Music lovers: Customers of the popular iTunes online music store download, on average, 15,000 songs every minute. Based in Cupertino, California (US), iTunes has about 26 million songs available for sale.
Priceless architecture: Gothic architecture originated in France in the 12th century and featured pointed arches, rib vaulting and flying buttresses. These are often seen in many churches, cathedrals and castles of the 12th to 16th centuries.
New name: The well-known cult band, Grateful Dead, started out under another name: The Warlocks. With guitarist Jerry Garcia at its helm, the band played for the first time under its new name in San Francisco in 1965.
Shiny eyes: Many drivers are familiar with Catseye road studs. These small, reflective studs can be embedded into the asphalt and help drivers view the road better in the dark or fog. They were invented in 1934 by Englishman Percy Shaw.
