Everybody’s Talking

┈┈┈┈┈☟┈┈┈┈┈

Big pop group:
There is a female pop group in Japan that has 88 members and all of the members are in their teens and early twenties. As it’s hard to fit them all on a stage, the group is divided into teams that take turns performing. To select which of the girls will perform at a given concert, the game Rock-paper-scissors is played. The last 16 players are selected for the show and the last player gets to be the lead singer. Producer Yasushi Akimoto is the originator of this band. Older performers “graduate,” while new ones come on board as auditioned trainees, so the membership is always changing.

Talkative parrot:
A drunk driver in Mexico City probably wishes he’d left his pet parrot at home the day the police pulled him over at a check stop. It’s possible that Guillermo Reyes may have been able to fake sobriety, but his parrot blew his cover by saying, “He’s drunk, he’s drunk.” Initially, the police officer thought there was someone in the back seat, but on closer inspection, they found the parrot. Figuring the bird knew its master and was “parroting” the truth, the officer tested Reyes for alcohol and he was found to be impaired and was arrested for drunk driving.

Garbage pickers:
Three youngsters who went on a midnight rampage knocking over garbage bins on a commercial street in Gillygate, York in England got their just desserts. The trio was caught on a surveillance camera throwing the garbage into the street. In the midst of the disturbance, a police car approached the scene. Out jumped two officers who ordered the boys to clean up their mess. The perpetrators can be seen picking up the garbage and putting it back into the bins. While the boys were not charged, it is hoped that the film footage will deter others from participating in similar mischievous acts.

Food with view:
A great meal in a location with a fantastic view is often desired by restaurant patrons. Diners in the Hubei Province of China can find that enjoyable experience at the Tangent Hanging Restaurant. This unique eatery can be found in the Happy Valley of Exiling Gorge. The dining room is located in a cave on a high cliff that visitors approach via a narrow 30-metre long bridge overlooking the Yangtze River. However, it’s worth the effort as patrons are treated to fine dining in a beautifully decorated dining room with a view of the valley. They can even watch thrill seekers bungee jump from a nearby bridge!
