Everybody’s Talking

┈┈┈┈┈☟┈┈┈┈┈

Password problem: Until recently, if a citizen of India had a complaint to make about the Delhi police, they would have to wait a long time to receive action because the staff in the agency responsible for responding to complaints didn’t know the password needed to read them. The agency was doing a good job of collecting hundreds of complaints submitted by the public, but someone finally wised up to the fact that none of them had been addressed over an eight-year period. Once the problem was identified, the password was made available to the right people.

Colt trouble: The owners of a horse that made its way onto the roof of their house were at a loss to explain the situation. Pat and Stephen Downey of Hampton, New Brunswick (CAN) own race horses, including one colt named Must Win. The couple think the young animal got bored because the other horses were away for the day. Somehow, Must Win hopped a knoll that led to the roof and spent the day trotting back and forth on it. The Downeys have owned horses for 15 years but have never experienced such a funny situation.

Chilly run: Skiers all around the world are sad when ski season ends and they might have few closing ceremonies to commemorate all the good times on the slopes. It was no different for a group of downhill skiers in China who liked to spend as much time as possible on the slopes at the Maoer Mountain ski resort near Harbin in China’s Heilongjiang Province. To celebrate, both men and women in the group donned the wildest swimsuits they could find, along with masks and wigs. They all met at the top of the mountain and got ready for one last, cold run down the hill.

Village for sale: Want to buy an abandoned village? Those who do might want to check the listings in Spain. There, as many as 2,900 tiny villages have no one living in them because the people left to live in a city or went somewhere else to find better farmland. The village of Barca will be given away as long as the new owner plans to preserve some old structures. The asking price for another village is €62,000 ($83,000 US). Foreigners have shown an interest in buying these hamlets, many of which are in the northwest part of Italy.
