Everybody’s Talking

┈┈┈┈┈☟┈┈┈┈┈

Dog laws: Dogs who live in the city of Turin in Italy are likely to be in better shape than their counterparts in some other locations. There is a law in Turin that states that dog owners must walk their pets three times a day. If they don’t, they’ll get a hefty fine of €500 ($650 US). Also, when owners walk their dogs, they are expected to do so in a way that will not tire out their canines. So, if they like riding a bicycle alongside Fifi, they better go slow! Dog owners are not allowed to dye their pooch’s fur or dock their tails for aesthetic purposes, either.

Hard day’s night: Gordon Olley of Wendling, England, fell in love with his wife, Mary, in 1964 on the night he took her and his then-girlfriend, Edna, to a Beatles movie at the Dereham Cinema in Norfolk. To celebrate their many years together, Gordon decided to surprise Mary by renting out the theater and asked the manager to show A Hard Day’s Night. The staff at the theater were more than willing to comply and Mary had the surprise of her life when she got to relive their first night out, even though at the time they were not officially dating.

Don’t forget! Birthdays come and go; some get remembered, while others are forgotten. However, a man in Samoa better not forget his wife’s birthday it’s against the law! Samoan men may not be expected to buy their wives a gift or take them out for dinner on their birthday, but they absolutely can’t forget to at least say “Happy Birthday!” or perhaps give their wife a note acknowledging the special day. If her husband does forget, it’s up to the wife to decide what action to take. Because it is the law, she can (if she so desires) report him to the police if he forgets!

Crazy house: People who get dizzy easily would have to avoid a certain home located in the town of Szymbark, Poland. Called the Upside Down House, the building is just like the name says, the base of the structure is in the air, while the peak is on the ground. Visitors find it quite intriguing to enter the home through a roof window. Not only that, but the house is on a bit of a slant, making it somewhat confusing to walk through. Even the builders had a bit of trouble adjusting to the design and had to take occasional breaks. The house is the creation of businessman Daniel Czapiewski.

Did you Know?

┈┈┈┈┈☟┈┈┈┈┈

Google’s library: Ever wonder how Google can almost always find what you’re looking for on the Internet? It’s because the website’s index has about 60 trillion individual web pages to choose from. This database is roughly 100,000,000 gigabytes and constantly growing.

Long way down: At one time, you could tell the status of a person by what floor they lived on in an apartment building. Without elevators, poor people would have to climb many stories to get to their rooms, leaving the lower levels for wealthy residents.

Super strength: It turns out that people are stronger than they may think. If all the muscles in a human body worked together at one time, a person could lift 25 tonnes!

Perfect paradise: Belize is known for its dense forests and pristine beaches. This tropical nation, located south of Mexico, is about the size of the American state of New Hampshire.

Hot shot: Professional table tennis players can get into some very heated matches. Balls that are hit just right can reach speeds of 160 kilometers per hour.

On the Lighter Side

┈┈┈┈┈☟┈┈┈┈┈

Teacher: “Sam, if you had one dollar in one pocket and 75 cents in the other pocket, what would you have?” Sam: “My hands in my dad’s pockets!”

Daughter looking through family photos: “Doesn’t Daddy look funny in those suspenders?” Son: “Well, he’d look a darn sight funnier without them!”

Middle age is when the hardest things to raise in your garden are your knees.

Don’t be afraid to go out on a limb. That’s where the fruit is.

Sam: “You said Mr. Smith died and left no money?” Fran: “Yep, he lost his health getting wealthy and lost his wealth to get healthy!”
