Everybody’s Talking

┈┈┈┈┈☟┈┈┈┈┈

Don’t monkey around: A man from the United Arab Emirates was arrested by Indian customs officials at the airport in New Delhi when he was caught trying to carry illegal contraband onto a plane. The contraband was a tiny monkey called a loris, hidden in the man’s clothing. The loris is an endangered species and it is assumed that the man was attempting to transport it from Thailand through India, then on to Dubai where it could be sold. However, the man was arrested and the monkey was turned over to People for Animals, an animal welfare organization.

Catching the wave: The goat is one of the more sure-footed of the four-legged animals on the planet, which might help to explain the extraordinary ability of Goatee and Pismo, better known as the surfing goats. Dana McGregor, an American from the state of California (US), purchased the two goats to keep the grass from getting too high on his property. McGregor is a surfer and one day he decided to take his goats along for the ride. He went to San Onofre State Beach to surf, where he persuaded Goatee and Pismo to get on his surfboard. After that, his four-legged pals were hooked.

Sleepy moms: New mothers who feel tired most of the time are not alone. A British study revealed that new moms lose the equivalent of a whole month of sleep during baby’s first year. Ninety-eight percent of the 1,091 moms in the study, who live across the United Kingdom, claimed they were awake tending to their babies an average of 3.9 times per night. Each time they responded to their babies’ cries, they stayed up for an average of 31.6 minutes. That adds up to 31.8 days. The moms usually slept 7.8 hours a night prior to baby’s arrival. While it may not help new mothers get more sleep, this information helps them understand that losing sleep is something all new moms have to deal with.

Eat up!: An Italian man, who was a fugitive from police, gave himself away because of his appetite for lasagna. Giancarlo Sabatini eluded authorities when he found out he’d have to serve almost four years in prison for drug charges. However, the love of his wife’s homemade lasagna lured him out of hiding in Belgium. Police, who had been watching the houses of Sabatini’s wife and daughter, suspected he might have dropped in for a visit when they observed the daughter carrying a lasagna platter to her mother’s house. They caught Sabatini red-handed. Hopefully, his last meal before prison was worth every bite!
