Everybody’s Talking

Cat photographer: Cooper has become a very well-known photographer in Seattle, Washington. His works illustrate what a lush and beautiful neighbourhood he lives in, and he never fails to come up with unique angles and composition, as well as interesting subject matter. That’s because Cooper is Michael and Deirdre Cross’s cat. The filmmakers decided to equip Cooper with a tiny camera that takes photos every two minutes so they could see what he does and where he goes all day. When they saw the photos, they realized they were really works of art. Michael says he now considers Cooper to be a member of his film crew. The cat photographer even has his own blog.

Sleep tie: In Japan, business people often work very long hours at the office. Now, according to a spokesperson, KTM Co. is distributing the Nemuri Tie, or the sleep tie, which is a necktie that doubles as a pillow. The tie is inflated through a hidden air vent located at the back of the neck. Once filled with air, the tie becomes an instant soft pad that can be used as a pillow. The device targets hard-working business people who want to take a quick nap on the job. It is made from silk and micro fibers that help to cool the skin during summer heat and humidity.

Marriage test: Liu Peiwen’s girlfriend, Ling Hsueh, was only joking, but just to be on the safe side, Peiwen walked 1,000 miles – from Anyang to Guangzhou in China – to prove his love for her. The hike was inspired by Hsueh’s response to Peiwen’s marriage proposal. She said she’d marry him if, like the famous Proclaimers love song said, he would “walk 500 miles and…walk 500 more…to fall down at your door.” Peiwen said he liked walking and wanted to see more of China anyway. Hsueh did think her boyfriend was a bit crazy for doing this stunt, and she said she would have married him anyway.

Talent for painting: Sergio Caballero is already an established painter in Spain, but now he has a rather unusual partner who is also creating works of art. Caballero has trained a horse – a four-year-old Dutch Friesian named Napolean – to hold a paint brush in his mouth and shake his head to create strokes of acrylic colour on the canvas. Caballero explains that the idea to work with animal painters came to him one day, and he asked his horse trainer friend to find him a suitable candidate. Caballero describes Napolean’s works of art as abstract expressionism.
