Everybody’s Talking

┈┈┈┈┈☟┈┈┈┈┈

Hamster wheel: Volvo, a Swedish truck and auto maker, wanted to show its customers that steering one of their new rigs is so easy that even a rodent can do it. The new trucks have state-of-the-art steering technology that makes the task almost effortless. In a promotional stunt, a truck’s steering wheel was equipped with a hamster wheel. The truck’s operator encouraged a hamster to “drive” the truck by using a carrot to get the rodent to move in the right direction. The driver was responsible for the brake and gas pedals. Man and hamster made it safely up a narrow, treacherous road in Spain.

Plane fare: People who want to dine in an environment of a large jumbo jet, but don’t want to buy an airline ticket, now have an alternative. They can have dinner in the A380 Restaurant in Chongqing, China. The A380 is an enormous passenger plane and the decor of the restaurant reflects that airline theme. The seats are adjustable and the lighting and windows look similar to those you’d see in a plane’s cabin. The waitstaff wear airline uniforms and are trained to act like flight attendants. However, one big difference is the food. The A380 restaurant serves better fare than what passengers usually get during a flight.

Wedding woes: Engaged couples who get cold feet about their upcoming nuptials might decide to cancel their wedding, but what if it’s a family member who gets cold feet, then goes ahead and cancels the ceremony on the couple’s behalf? That’s what happened to a British couple from Plymouth, England. The groom’s sister, Ann Duffy, was not fond of her brother’s fiancée, so she called the wedding registry office, pretended to be the fiancée, and cancelled her brother’s wedding. Duffy claimed that she was saving her brother from disaster, but she ended up with a harassment charge.

Read the profile: Those who visit dating sites to find a possible partner don’t always check the person’s profile. Some just look at the photo or they just don’t care about the person’s moral character. That’s the conclusion of comedy writer Alli Reed of Los Angeles (US), who conducted an experiment. She posted a photo of a pretty model accompanied by a horrendous profile. Reed was amazed to discover that hundreds of men responded, even though the pretty girl’s personal info indicated that she was mean-spirited, lazy, spoiled, racist and a gold digger. The lesson here is to read before you respond!
