Everybody’s Talking

┈┈┈┈┈☟┈┈┈┈┈

Hotel of Doom: Construction on a 105-story hotel in Pyongyang, North Korea, began in 1987 but stalled for 20 years during an economic crisis. Dubbed the “worst building in the history of mankind” by Esquire, it is now nearing completion. Egyptian company Orascom Telecom is working on it, and 150 rooms at the top are expected to open soon.

Too short: At Stansbury High School in Utah, nearly half of the girls at a homecoming dance were denied entry because their dresses were deemed too short. After protests and a petition, the principal apologized, promising another dance to make up for the incident.

Different approach: Air New Zealand has captured passengers’ attention with a Hobbit-themed safety video, “An Unexpected Briefing,” inspired by The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. The video features elves, hobbits, and even Gollum to showcase flight safety.

Busy hero: Gus Hertz became a hero twice in two days while vacationing in St. Petersburg, Florida. He first rescued a man from a submerged car and then saved two people from a crashed ultralight plane. Despite his heroic efforts, Hertz remained modest, saying he simply did what anyone would do.

On the Lighter Side

If you really want to be better at golf, go back and take it up at a much earlier age.

A first-grade teacher asked her students to complete some common proverbs, and here’s what she got:

  • It’s always darkest before… daylight-saving time.
  • Don’t bite the hand that… looks dirty.
  • You can’t teach an old dog new… math.
  • If at first you don’t succeed… get new batteries.

What is a sad strawberry? A blueberry.

Usually, any solution proposed by a politician will contain more problems than it solves.

A conclusion is the place where you got tired of thinking.
