Everybody’s Talking

┈┈┈┈┈☟┈┈┈┈┈

Learning to fly: Some dogs are afraid and nervous when their masters take them on an airplane. Now, there is a training course in the United States that will teach dogs to be calm when flying. The course is taught at Air Hollywood, a film studio in Hollywood, California. The studio is set up to look like the inside of a real plane and there are sound effects and simulated turbulence as well. It has been used in many television shows and movies and owner Talaat Captan thought it would also make a good training ground for dogs because it simulates the reality of flying.

No light: When Andrew Watton-Davies moved into a council house in Cambridge, England, the outdoor light, which was supposed to illuminate the street, was broken. Over the next three years, he started making calls to get it fixed. In response, various workers came and left and sometimes a worker would remove a part, taking it away to be repaired. Weeks later, a different worker would return with the wrong part. One time, the light was fixed, but then stopped working within a week or two. It’s been a comedy of errors, but Watton-Davies hopes that someone will sort it out soon!

Mistaken identity: A taxi driver in the city of Toronto, Ontario (CAN) had the fright of his life when he saw what he thought was a bear standing beside his cab. Mohammed Naim had just dropped off a passenger when he noticed the animal. He locked himself in the vehicle and called for help. However, the “bear” was really a large Newfoundland dog. Ironically, the dog, who lives in the area, was named “Bear” by his owners. Bear is 150 pounds and is very furry, but he is also very friendly and wouldn’t hurt a fly.

Writing on the Wall: There aren’t many public walls out there that are immune to graffiti, including the Great Wall of China. Many tourists and visitors to the Wall think it’s a good idea to write or carve something into the historic man-made monument. To prevent this from happening, officials have designated a certain spot where people will be allowed to use their graffiti skills. A special zone is being created at the Number 14 Fighting Tower building at Mutianyu, about 40 miles from Beijing and it is hoped that the graffiti created there will become its own attraction, while discouraging writing on other parts of the Wall.
