Everybody’s Talking

┈┈┈┈┈☟┈┈┈┈┈

Shark attack: If you are in a small inflatable motorboat and a great white shark comes along and starts taking bites out of the boat’s side, what would you do? Nature filmmakers were presented with this dilemma in South African waters. Rather than make a fast retreat, the filmmakers stuck around to shoot some footage. Eventually, though, they must have thought they were in danger because the driver sped away rather quickly. The footage was shot by MaxAnimal for presentation on its YouTube channel. Luckily, everyone got back to shore safely so the footage could be posted.

No red ink: Getting a whole lot of red marks on a homework assignment is something that has sent feelings of disappointment to many a young student for decades. These red notations have such a bad reputation that a school in Britain decided to change the rules. In Mounts Bay Academy in Cornwall (GB), a new ruling means that teachers will start marking their papers in green ink. The students will be allowed to give responses in purple. The idea is to get positive communication between teacher and student, minus the red ink.

Houseboat haven: An unemployed man who wanted to live for next to nothing had his dream taken away when authorities told him to leave his home. That “home” was a houseboat located in the harbour in the city of Nelson on New Zealand’s South Island. Owned by Paul Jepson, the houseboat was made from materials he had scavenged, including oil drums, corrugated iron and wood. Jepson had even figured out a way to collect rainwater. However, the boat was deemed as a hazard and an eyesore and authorities had it removed. Jepson will now have to find a new home.

Creative groundskeeper: Seymon Bukharin, a groundskeeper at a school in Izhevsk, Russia, goes above and beyond the expectations of his job. Izhevsk is in the Udmurtia region of Russia, and when it snows in the winter, he is responsible for clearing away the white stuff. But he does more than that. He uses his natural artistic ability to make designs in the snow. When he is finished with one of his designs, children and staff look out the window to the playground and they might see a sailing ship, a bird, an animal or a Russian scene.
